Gran Canaria Winter Holidays
Holidaymakers looking for a cheap getaway to Gran Canaria can now fly there from London Southend Airport.
The new service will operate twice a week throughout next winter with the first flights scheduled for November, 6, 2016.
The affordable flights, which start at ยฃ30.99 one way, are on sale now.
EasyJet expects to fly 12, 000 passengers a year to and from Gran Canaria on the new route. Gran Canaria, part of the Canary Islands, is the perfect place to grab some winter sun.
Throughout the winter months, Gran Canaria sees daily average temperatures of between 17-21 degrees C, with the temperature at night rarely dipping below a pleasant 8 degrees C.
Their winter season runs from November to March, making it ideal if you want a break from the chilly British weather or as an escape over Christmas and the New Year.
"We're delighted to be adding Gran Canaria to easyJet's range of destinations from Southend in a move which provides our passengers with an additional winter holiday destination from the airport, further strengthening our already comprehensive European flight network, said Neil Slaven, UK commercial manager at easyJet.
"It also highlights our commitment to providing affordable routes for both leisure and business passengers from the airport and we're sure that it will prove extremely popular."
Glyn Jones, chief executive officer of Stobartair which owns London Southend Airport said: "Grand Canaria is a fantastic winter sun destination - and it's now right on the doorstep for passengers from Essex and the South East. We are absolutely delighted that easyJet is now offering another route from London Southend.
"With excellent access, including our own station, trains to and from the East London hub of Stratford in 45 minutes, unique customer service and now even more fantastic destinations - it's no surprise that more and more people are choosing London Southend."
